As 2026 gets underway, inDrive is reinforcing its commitment to safer, more professional ride-hailing by rolling out dedicated driver training workshops aimed at elevating service standards across its platform. The sessions are designed to equip drivers with practical skills that enhance professionalism, safety, and passenger comfort, setting the tone for consistent, high-quality ride experiences throughout the year.
The workshops focus on the everyday realities of ride-hailing, from courteous passenger interactions to managing stressful situations on the road, while reinforcing the importance of adhering to safety protocols at all times.
“The training comes at a critical moment as South Africans kick-start the new year,” says Ashif Black, Country Representative of inDrive. “From basic passenger etiquette to maintaining composure in high-pressure situations and strictly following safety standards, our goal is to ensure that every inDrive journey is smooth, respectful, and secure—this year and beyond.”
During the sessions, drivers work through real-life scenarios commonly encountered during trips, exploring practical, effective responses to each. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining professionalism in every interaction, alongside ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for all passengers. Special attention is given to the needs and concerns of female passengers, reflecting the current safety climate in South Africa.
Drivers are trained to identify potential risks early, de-escalate conflicts, and build trust with passengers, skills that are critical not only for personal safety but also for strengthening confidence in the inDrive platform and encouraging repeat usage.
These standards align closely with what South African riders expect: a consistent experience, a clean and calm environment, and a driver who takes pride in their work and respects their passengers. Industry research continues to show that professionalism plays a key role in how safe and reliable ride-hailing services are perceived. A recent Ipsos study found that 90% of ride-hailing users consider these services safer than conventional transport options such as buses or traditional taxis, while 92% say they feel safer using ride-hailing services after dark.
By investing in structured driver training, inDrive is actively strengthening trust, reliability, and service quality across its network.
